Crying In the Workplace: Why it doesn’t work

It is always interesting to see the kind of requests I receive for information through my blog – www.DecontaminateToxicPeople.com

I would be very interested to see if you have other suggestions on crying in the workplace. Personally, I think it is unacceptable and immature!

Crying at work

Question:

I have a young lady on staff and she is working on a large and important project but every time someone questions some of her decisions right/wrong about the project she get very emotional, which typically results in her crying.

Whining and Complaining:

I am nuts today – I am soooo behind! Suffering from Book-done-itis. Leave tomorrow for the week and my sinuses are driving me nuts. Doc says it’s just allergies.  I’ll be good to go by tomorrow.

Don't do it

Don't do it

There it’s off my back.  Now I know that people don’t really give a hoot but sometimes we all  have to complain and whine to somebody!

Here’s what I’ve learned. Whine – then follow it up with something positive.  This is more for you than for the listener. Get over it and move on. Success is never found in people that are pessimistic.

Haughty, Loudmouthed Difficult People

Starbucks Logo

Starbucks used to sell breakfast sandwiches, which makes sense because they sell coffee! A normal routine that many of us have adhered to is eating breakfast, the most important meal of the day. Did you notice the word – used to? A group of haughty, loudmouthed critics convinced the founder, Howard Schultz, to discontinue the breakfast fare because as he states “The egg sandwiches debased the Starbucks image because the scent of the warmed sandwiches interferes the coffee aroma in our stores.” Pleaaassssseeeee!

Steve Forbes, of Forbes Magazine Editor-in-Chief, even writes about Starbucks stock price falling by half, leaving shareholders feeling as if they’ve been drinking airline coffee.

Personal responsibility is your job

Here is a hard lesson.  Everything you are today is because of the choices you have made in the past.  Period.  Want proof?  Watch two videos on Larry Winget’s web site.  He is the author of You’re Broke Because You Want To Be.

The two videos are from Neil Cavuto and Donny Deutsch.
